The Camrose Kodiaks have been out and about in the community in the week leading up to Christmas, joyfully delivering stuffed teddy bears to local groups in need!
The annual Camrose Kodiaks teddy toss game held on December 9th netted the Kodiaks a grand total of 710 teddy bears!
The teddy bears have been put to good use as the players hand delivered the plush toys to groups in need. Groups that saw visits from Kodiaks players included the St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose, and the Camrose Fire Department.
"The Camrose Kodiaks organization is very proud to be able to deliver a generous collection of teddy bears, and donated toy items to user groups who were in real need of these items," stated Kodiaks Assistant GM - Darcy Steen. "It was important to the Kodiaks players to be able give back to the community in this way. Delivering teddy bears always put smiles on people's faces!"
In many instances the teddy bears will go towards children who have been affected by traumatic situations such as house fires, motor vehicle crash and accident scenes, emergency hospital room visits, domestic violence, amongst other instances. These teddy bears go a long way in terms of helping children and families deal with these difficult circumstances, and at times serve as a shining light of optimism.
In addition to this, the Camrose Kodiaks players also delivered a cheque in the amount of $405 to the local Camrose Food Bank. The cheque was in recognition of the various donations which fans provided, from the sale of teddy bears at the Kodiaks annual - Teddy Bear Toss game on December 9th.
The Kodiaks are very proud to support this initiative along with many others. For more information on the Kodiaks and their active involvement in the community, please click on www.camrosekodiaks.com/community .
