Kodiaks Win Second Straight
2012 September 9th
A 2-goal effort from rookie, Brett Njaa gave the Kodiaks their second straight win to begin the season. Njaa scored twice in the 3rd period to give the home team a 2-1 victory over the Grande Prairie Storm at Encana Arena on Saturday night. The former Prince Albert Minto lifted a backhand under the crossbar 7 minutes into the final period to beat netminder, Curtis Skip to make 1-0. Njaa then added a shorthanded goal 3 minutes later, the Kodiaks' 4th shorthanded marker in two games. The Storm's Gus Correale scored on a power play at 12:50 of the 3rd period to make it 2-1 but that would be as close as the visitors would get as Devin McDonald made 31 saves for his first AJHL win. Next action for the Kodiaks is September 12th in Lloydminster.
